Diagnostics

Through the use of a full range of diagnostic services, including digital x-rays, bloodwork, urine testing, and abdominal ultrasounds, we are able to quickly and accurately treat our pet patients.

X-Rays + Lab Work

Diagnostic tests, such as x-rays or bloodwork, give us a complete picture of your pet’s health. These tests go beyond a physical examination, providing information about your pet’s bones, organs, tissues, and blood. Diagnostic tests are especially important for senior pets because they can identify early stages of disease, which can often be managed effectively with medications or other treatments.

We offer diagnostic x-rays and laboratory testing right at your doorstep. Our mobile unit is equipped with the latest technology, and we are able to provide instant diagnostic information for many routine illness or conditions.

Exams & Consultations

Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. Then, one of our veterinarians will do a complete physical examination on your pet. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill.

We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. It is much easier to start a diet when a pet is a pound overweight instead of fifteen! Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we are able to catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!

Wellness

Our extensive menu of wellness care services offers a strong foundation for your pet’s lifelong care and includes vaccinations, microchipping, and fecal exams.

Examinations help us gain an overall picture of your pet’s health and track his or her wellness over time. We complete a thorough “nose-to-tail” exam, where we watch your pet’s behavior and look for signs of illness of injury. Depending on your pet’s age or the results of the exam, we may recommend additional testing, such as bloodwork or diagnostic imaging.

Parasite Prevention

Protecting pets against harmful pests keeps them both happy and healthy. Parasites can cause serious illness in cats and dogs, and some of those illnesses can be transmitted to humans. We understand the importance of parasite prevention for every pet.

During your pet’s wellness visit, we provide the following:

  • Education on how to safeguard your pet and your home from pests

  • Personalized recommendations for medications or treatments

  • Heartwork and fecal sample testing for pest-related diseases

Dermatology

Just like humans, pets can suffer from dermatological conditions and allergies. Dr. Harkin’s expert knowledge combined with our advanced veterinary diagnostic tools available on our mobile unit, allows us to provide a variety of dermatological services including:

  • Skin scrapes

  • Counseling and management

  • Cytology for ear and skin infections

  • Biopsies

  • Cultures

  • Blood testing

  • Diet trials for food allergies

Determining the root cause of many skin issues can be difficult since many dermatological conditions share similar characteristics. We will work with you to obtain a history of your pet’s symptoms and to explore possible diagnosis and treatment methods. In cases where follow-up or advanced care is required, we’ll establish a treatment plan that works for both you and your pet, or she will refer you to a specialist if advanced care is needed.
